He was sentenced to death on March 24, 1931. The execution was extended to 11 hours. The Sangh was hanged an hour before official hours and was clearly the last to be disgraced on the banks of the Sutlej. No one reportedly monitored the execution.

Recalling his last moments, a friend of Shaheed Bhagat Singh wrote in his memoirs - "There was a Muslim barber who used to go daily to the area where Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sikh Goddess lived. He knew that prison What is happening in me? The newspaper report says that the execution will take place on March 24. According to the rules, the execution was carried out at 7 am in summer and at 8 am in winter.


"On the afternoon of the 23rd, the prison barber came running to us and said, 'Sardar  (Bhagat Singh) says that maybe he will be hanged today. He has wished you both (Varinder and Ihsan Elahi) Vinde Matram.


Later in the morning, Varinder asked the warder who had supervised the execution, how were the three of them? "It simply came to our notice then. Tears welled up in her eyes as she did so. "I have joined the prison service, I have seen dozens of people hanged, but I have never seen anyone accept death like that and with patience," he said.

Historian MM Juneja notes how his love of reading continued to the end.

Juneja narrated an incident. Pran Mehta, Bhagat Singh's lawyer had given permission to meet him on March 23, 1931. It was a few hours before the execution. Bhagat Singh was going up and down the cell. He greeted Mehta with a smile and asked for his book. It was Vladimir Lenin's book, The State and the Revolution. When Bhagat got the book, he quickly started reading knowing that he did not have much time.

A close friend of Bhagat Singh remembered the last moments. He said, "When asked to climb the heights to the heights, Bhagat Singh began to read sharply. And he said, 'Wait a minute. One revolutionary is talking to another.' The Sangh continued reading. After a while, he turned the book over and said, "Let's go.
